32 beauty salons issued notice for violation

The salon control unit of Doha Municipality inspected a total of 2,320 beauty salons for women in January, and issued 32 violation notices, Baladiya News bulletin reported.

During raids, 13 cases of violations were referred to police, as five establishments agreed to resolve the violations, it said.

  • Doha Municipality’s public cleaning section also issued 45 violation tickets and referred the cases to police, while the number of direct warnings stood at 110 in January.

Violations and cases, that were later reconciled numbered 120 in January 2011.

The Doha Municipality also removed 30 abandoned cars from within the municipality limits, and moved 27 on owners’ request during the same period.

  • According to Baladiya News, great efforts are being utilised in Shamal (North) City and the greater Shamal Municipality from upgrading roads to creating public parks.

The ongoing projects in Shamal include Shamal Port phase II, a public park and playground, Al Ka’aban Garden phase II, Ain Sanan Park, new roads in Shamal City, Al Ruwais, Abu Zulouf, and Al Ka’aban.

Work is also currently taking place on a number of new roads in villages and farms dotting Shamal Municipality, as well as a waterline connection between Shamal City and Ras Laffan, and the Shamal – Doha Highway, it said.

  • The Doha Municipality’s public gardens section planted a variety of plants around the metro area in January, including 1,067 shrubs, two palm trees, 17,000 seedlings, and 5,000 seasonal flowers, as well as grass on 1,200sq m surface.

“The Doha Municipality has been efficient in maintaining the public parks and is working on ensuring all the beautification works from electricity connections to carpentry and blacksmithing to construction and paintworks,” Baladiya News said.

  • The Food Inspection Department of Doha Municipality, together with Children’s Cultural Centre, will be holding a food awareness exhibition under the theme of “healthy food for better health” at Katara from March 6 to April 7, Baladiya News has said.

A number of schools and their students are expected to visit the event, which will run daily (on weekdays) from 9am to 1pm.

  • The Umm Salal Municipality’s public garden section planted at least 370 plants of various types along the roads and pavements in the area during February, Baladiya News said on Thursday.

Additionally 250 seasonal flowers were also planted.
