Swiss watchmaker set to open new outlet in June

World renowned watchmaker Raymond Weil will be opening a new outlet at a venue equally befitting the brand’s reputation, The Pearl-Qatar, officials said yesterday.

Speaking to Gulf Times, Doha Marketing Services Co (Domasco)’s watches division sales manager Merril Dias said the store, slated to be opened by June, will become the flagship outlet for the Swiss watchmaking company in Qatar.

“It will be our second boutique, in addition to the dedicated outlet Raymond Weil has at the City Center,” said Dias, whose company Domasco, maintains the agency rights for Raymond Weil in Qatar. Known for its independent spirit, Raymond Weil, which was founded in 1976, remains a rare family-run independent company in the world, and holds a unique place in the Swiss watchmaking industry, Raymond Weil areas sales manager Mathieu Linossier said.

“Raymond Weil is relished for the elegance of design, choice of different collections and the spirit behind the timepieces,” Linossier said.

An enthusiastic partner at the DJWE since the event’s inception, Domasco’s Raymond Weil stand at the current edition of the annual exhibition stands out as the biggest standalone marquee for a watch brand at 25sqm.

“We wanted to highlight this important brand and its independent spirit,” Dias explained.

In addition to Raymond Weil, Domasco represents such global watch brands as Westar, Kolber and Titan among others in Qatar. For the exhibition, watches from Raymond Weil’s ‘Freelancer’, ‘Noemia’, ‘Parsifal’ collections were made available for the hundreds of visitors stopping by at the stand, officials said.

“These exquisite watches are from our 2010 production. Our 2011 collections will be unveiled at the Basel event in Switzerland next month,” Linossier said.

Raymond Weil’s current line-up features the glamorous Shine, the entirely mechanical and thoroughly masculine Don Giovanni, the Giuseppe Verdi-inspired Nabucco, the emblematic Parsifal, the independent-spirited Freelancer, Maestro Tradition, Noemia, Tango, and Tradition collections.

“Mr Raymond Weil, the founder of the company remains a passionate fan of opera. This fact reflects in the names of all our collections over 35 years,” the official explained.

Although they are unique and innovative timepieces, reflecting a grip on heritage and tradition, it is Raymond Weil’s affordability that draws patrons to it the world over, before they become life-long loyalists.Prices, generally, range from $1,000 to $3,000 for watches, while the top-of-the-line at the exhibition by Raymond Weil, a diamond-studded Don Giovanni piece, is priced at $18,000.
